Vienna State Opera House #1
A Must-Visit Place for Theater Designers - Vienna State Opera House.
Vienna State Opera House is one of the three major opera houses in the world, along with the Paris Opera House and Milan's La Scala Theatre. It is known for hosting the most performances in Europe.
In Vienna, Austria, it is referred to as one of the two buildings that symbolize the capital. Built in the Neo-Renaissance style in 1869, it was destroyed during World War II and painstakingly reconstructed to its former glory in 1955 at a considerable cost.
The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is the house orchestra of this theater, and you can also see this orchestra at the Salzburg Festival. Hundreds of performances take place here every year, and it has been visited by world-renowned musicians.
During the summer, when there are no performances, the interior can be visited. Tours are free, and donations are welcome.
